Training Track
1/2 mile oval (4 furlongs)
Fiberglass Safty Rails
The
training track has a half-mile oval (4 furlongs), with a 350-yard straightaway
for quarter horses. It features all fiberglass, breakaway railing, a new
four-horse starting gate/schooling gate, and brand new equipment including
tractor, track conditioner and water wagon.
Hall of Fame
jockey Jerry Nicodemus is the training center manager,
in charge of training, breaking and conditioning.
Nicodemus
has worked
for some of the biggest trainers in the business, Don Farris and Charles Cascio,
for example.
Having broke and rode champions like Dash For Cash, Windy's Ryon, Medley Glass
and Denim N Diamonds to name a few.
After
retiring from riding, Nicodemus was a steward at Turf Paradise in Arizona. He
has also been a
New Mexico steward and brings a wealth of knowledge to the Double Eagle.
Nicodemus has
implemented his
own feeding program so Double Eagle horses only get the best.
Double Eagle
also, has close ties to Buena Suerte Equine Clinic across the road, home to
stallions Southern Corona,
Genuine Strawfly,
Deefirst, Metallic Lion, So Long Birdie (TB), Bay Head King (TB) .
Dr. Leonard Blach is the training center’s onsite
veterinarian,
soon the center will be adding a
new
digital X-ray machine and new scope for examining the throat and airway.
